«José Luís Moreira da Silva, Partner at SRS Legal, explains that the law now published in the Diário da Republica introduces "new criteria for the award of public contracts, centred on environmental sustainability, recycling and the circular economy, some of which are mandatory and others that public entities can use voluntarily, depending on the type of contract and sector". In the lawyer's opinion, this resolution "will mean that companies wishing to contract with public organisations have to adapt to these new criteria in order to win a future contract".

The lawyer sees this Government measure as "a natural evolution, which had already been the introduction of an environmental and environmental and sustainability component when choosing the organisation to contract" with the State.»
