"José Luís Moreira da Silva, Partner at SRS Legal and president of the Association of Law Firms in Portugal (ASAP), also recalled that this new regime still needs to be regulated specifically for the Bar Association, "especially in the part concerning professional internships and multidisciplinary firms". Thus, he believes that only after this regulation is it possible to have an idea of what will have to be done. "In relation to the regime of internships, we need to change nothing, because we have always remunerated the internships that take place in the SRS. If the internship period is really shortened, which still has to be regulated in the Bar Association as well, we are ready to welcome future colleagues faster", explained the lawyer.
In relation to multidisciplinary law firms, José Luís Moreira da Silva assured that, at this moment, SRS does not foresee any alteration, nor does it foresee transforming itself into this type of firm. "It will be a debate to open if and when the question really arises," he added."
