«“There is no doubt that the extraordinary rent support provided for in Decree-Law no. 20-B/2023 establishes that it is granted unofficially and automatically to beneficiaries who meet the requirements set out in this law, and it is expressly recognized that the support granted is not refundable,” explains Neuza Pereira de Campos, Partner in charge of the real estate department at SRS Legal, who also clarifies that the verification of the universe of beneficiaries is carried out by the entities with powers to do so and ‘without there being any subjective criteria or specific obligations for beneficiaries to receive this support’.
However, when it turns out that the requirements for receiving the support have not, in fact, been met, the support will have to be repaid, an obligation that will always fall to the beneficiaries of the support.»
