SRS Advogados will welcome the Portuguese Marine Minister, Ana Paula Vitorino, on 22 September, to participate in a conference on the role of ports in the Portuguese economy. The event marks the beginning of an upcoming lecture series, entitled: "Mobility: Trends, Challenges, Realities", organised by SRS Advogados between September and December 2016.
Portuguese ports are in direct competition with other EU ports. They are logistical networks which provide an increasingly more efficient means of international transport. It is therefore worth examining their development and the challenges which will pose themselves in the future. What kind of governance would allow the Portuguese port system the greatest competitivity? How can special concessions made to the ports encourage greater and better competition? Does freedom of access to markets served by ports prove to be especially effective? These issues amongst others will be debated by the Marine Minister in the SRS auditorium next Thursday, 22nd September, starting at 6pm.
This series of debates, promoted by SRS Advogados and by the magazine Transportes em Revista magazine, brings together a group of notable and respected individuals who will share their perspectives, and debate the challenges posed, trends, as well as the realities which will shape the future of Portuguese ports.
