José Luís Moreira da Silva, coordinating partner of SRS Advogados' Public Law and Environment department, was a speaker at the VIII Congress of Portuguese Language Ports, about 'Strengthening Commercial Relationships and Cooperation within the Lusophone world', which took place on the 26th and 27th March, in Maputo, Mozambique.
The event discussed projects to develop and expand Mozambique's ports and railways, the development of maritime transport in the Lusophone world, and the role of customs organisations in facilitating trade within the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). José Luís Moreira da Silva, who is also the coordinating partner of SRS Advogados' Mozambique Desk, spoke on 'Economic management of ports - from cargo movement concessions to private uses'. He is a Professor at the Institute of Legal-Political Science at the University of Lisbon's Law Faculty, and in the 1980s and 90s was a member of the Portuguese parliament and advisor to the government on road and port infrastructure.
Notable figures participating in the event included the Portuguese Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Communication, Sérgio Silva Monteira, and the Ministers of Transport, Infrastructure and Maritime Economy from Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Principe.
The event, which took place on the 26th and 27th March at the Hotel VIP Grand in Maputo, was organised by APLOP - the Association of Portuguese Language Ports.
