SRS Advogados supported the 8th edition of Apps for Good, which took place on 20 September at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.
Apps for Good is a technological education programme that challenges students and teachers to develop applications for smartphones or tablets, showing them the potential of technology to transform the world and the communities in which they live. Using a project methodology, students have the opportunity to experience the product development cycle.
This model derives from an international programme based in London since 2010 and founded by Iris Lapinski. At the invitation of the Directorate-General for Education, CDI Portugal and Apps for Good joined forces and launched the pilot in Portugal in January 2015. To date, more than 23,500 students have been involved, from 5th to 12th grade, as well as 1550 teachers from different subject areas, from 590 public and public schools in Portugal, Angola, East Timor and also schools associated to Prison Establishments.
SRS' Managing Director, Paula Ferreira Borges, handed over the 2nd prize for Primary Education to the Recycle Go & Give Now team of Maia Basic School. Concerned with the future of the environment and its generation, this team developed a solution focused on recycling and reusing all kinds of items.
