Nuno Calaim Lourenço, Managing Associate with the Competition and European Union Law department at SRS, has just concluded his Doctorate in Law from the University of Minho.
His thesis received the maximum mark permitted by the university's regulations - "Very Good". The jury was chaired by Mário Ferreira Monte, and the examiners included João Espírito Santo Noronha, Cláudia Viana, Joana Covelo de Abreu, Manuel Lopes Porto, Alessandra Silveira and Pedro Madeira Froufe.
The thesis explores one of the main issues currently being addressed in national and European economic law (and in the jurisprudence of the courts): the relationship between competition law and public procurement. In it, Nuno Calaim Lourenço sought to identify the possibilities that exist for competition law in the sphere of public procurement, to better ensure the objectives of public acquisition.
