SRS Legal supported the 9th edition of Apps for Good, which took place on 20 September at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento in Lisbon.
SRS Partner Neuza Pereira de Campos presented the 2nd prize for Primary Education to the SnapWork team, from the Lajes do Pico Primary and Secondary School, Azores, which developed an application that aims to facilitate the temporary hiring of people for hotel and tourism services, in response to the growth in tourism on the island of Pico.
Apps for Good is a technological education programme that challenges students and teachers to develop applications for smartphones or tablets, showing them the potential of technology to transform the world and the communities in which they live. Using a project-based methodology, students have the opportunity to experience the product development cycle. development cycle.
This model derives from an international programme based in in London since 2010 and founded by Iris Lapinski. At the invitation of the Directorate-General for Education, CDI Portugal and Apps for Good teamed up and launched the pilot in Portugal in January 2015.
The 9th edition of the Apps for Good competition brought together 22 new groups and three new participants, from 24 schools in mainland Portugal Portugal, the Azores and Madeira.
