Luís Neto Galvão, a partner at SRS Advogados and a specialist in privacy and data protection, will be a speaker at UIA's International Seminar on the New EU General Data Protection Regulation, taking place in Madrid on the 17th and 18th April.
The EU regulation, which is currently in the approval process, will be a centrepiece of EU data protection reform. It will have a significant and wide-ranging impact on businesses in today's increasingly data-driven economy. UIA's International Seminar will provide up-to-date information on the adoption process, as well as debating the legal principles of Data Protection and its application to the new challenges of globalisation and technological evolution, to ensure this fundamental right is protected effectively.
Luís Neto Galvão, a member of the European Commission's Expert Group on Cloud Computing as an independent expert on data protection, will discuss the EU Court of Justice Ruling Digital Rights Ireland, which declared the Data Retention Directive and international data transfers to be invalid.
Also participating in the international event will be the President of the Spanish Data Protection Agency, José Luis Rodríguez Álvarez; the European Commission's head of unit for data protection, Bruno Gencarelli; Joaquin Muñoz, a lawyer in the Google Spain case at the EU Court of Justice; and some of the most important European and American specialists in personal data protection.
The Seminar, taking place in Madrid on the 17th and 18th of April, is organised by UIA - Union Internationale des Avocats, with the support of the Spanish National Bar Association and the Madrid Bar Association.
