José Carlos Soares Machado and Rita Lynce de Faria, Partner and Consultant at SRS Advogados, participated in the 80th Biennial ILA Conference 2022 which took place from 20 to 23 June in Lisbon.
The International Law Association, based in London, is the oldest legal association in the world and has played an important role in the evolution of commercial and investment arbitration studies.
Soares Machado moderated the panel discussion on Public Policy and Arbitral Awards, one of the most discussed issues in internatioal arbitration. It comprised Rita Lynce de Faria (Universidade Católica, Lisbon, and SRS), Filip de Ly (Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands) and Andrea K. Bjorklund (McGill University, Canada). Both lawyers from SRS were also at the closing session on 23 June.
"After the successive confinements over the last two years, it was finally possible to physically participate in this international conference, this time with 300 delegates from more than 60 countries. It was positive and stimulating to attend several interesting panels, as well as to participate once again in the work of the Commercial International Arbitration Committee, of which I am a full member", said Soares Machado.
