Gonçalo Moreira Rato, head of the Intellectual Property department at SRS Advogados, has been elected to the ECTA (European Community Trademark Association) Committee for Geographical Indications.
More than 12 candidates from several countries were in the running for the role. This appointment is of major importance for Portugal.
"Our country possesses a number of Geographical Indications, whose preservation and protection is an extremely topical issue, especially regarding our wineries," states Gonçalo Moreira Rato.
The ECTA (European Community Trade Mark Association) is the largest European Intellectual Property organisation in the field.
