Gonçalo Anastácio, partner at SRS Advogados, participated in the VdA Conference on Competition and the European Union | Competition Law and Policy 2021/2022, on 23 June, at the firm's premises.
The SRS partner was also part, in his capacity as President of the Competition Section of the International Chamber of Commerce, of the panel discussion on Draft Law 8/XV/1 - Transposition of Directive (EU) 2021/1, which "aims to give Member States' competition authorities the power to enforce the law more effectively and ensure the proper functioning of the internal market." This panel, moderated by Ricardo Bordalo Junqueiro, Partner at VdA, also included the participation of Márcia Passos, Member of the Committee of Economy, Public Works, Planning and Housing and Constitutional Affairs Committee, Luís Nascimento Ferreira, Partner at MLGTS and Leonor Bettencourt Nunes, Senior Associate at VdA.
The whole conference discussed topics such as competition issues in labor markets and in digital markets, vertical restraints, compliance programs, the role of economic analysis in competition cases, as well as proposals to amend the Competition Law - currently under discussion in the Portuguese Parliament - and the increasingly common civil liability lawsuits for breaches of competition rules.
