The annual meeting of EILN - European Immigration Lawyers' Network took place in Lisbon on the weekend of 22 and 23 May.
The meeting, which was organised this year by SRS Advogados, featured more than 30 participants who tackled diverse themes relating to immigration, including the alterations introduced to this area by the Treaty of Lisbon and immigrant integration policies, using Portugal as a case study after the UN named Portugal as the country with the best record in granting rights and services to foreign residents.
The meeting was opened by Pedro Rebelo de Sousa, Managing Partner of SRS Advogados, and the guest speakers were António Vitorino, in his capacity as the former European Commissioner for Justice and Internal Affairs, and Duarte Miranda Mendes, Head of the Office of the High Commissioner for Immigration and Intercultural Dialogue.
The Employment Law Department of SRS Advogados, headed by partner César Sá Esteves, has been developing a consolidated practice of legal advice to companies on immigration law issues.
