Carla Neves Matias took part as a speaker in the V Forum g7+ Women, an event that took place on 12 December, in online format, under the motto "Women's access to economic and financial resources in fragile countries".
The SRS Legal partner took part in a panel debate entitled "How to promote women's empowerment and full access to economic and financial resources?", together with Celmira Sacramento (President of the National Assembly of São Tomé and Príncipe), Ana Paula Laborinho (Director of the Organisation of Ibero-American States, Portugal), Alda Ramos (Director of the National Institute for the Promotion of Gender Equality and Equity, São Tomé and Príncipe) and Mariana Oliveira (Partner, Abreu Advogados, Portugal). Together, the speakers addressed the discrimination and inequalities that still exist in these areas - at legislative, judicial, social and policy levels - and proposals for responding to these inequalities. proposals for responding to these inequalities.
The g7+ Forum on Women, Resilience and Development is a channel to encourage peer-to-peer knowledge sharing on solutions for gender equality and women's empowerment.
This multi-country forum, organised by the g7+ Lisbon Foundation, is a space in which g7+ countries, partners and experts can share ideas and lessons learned, as well as debate solutions for the benefit of girls and women in fragile and conflict-affected contexts, and consequently for peacebuilding, resilience and development. By encouraging reflection and debate on these issues, the Forum contributes to more robust action, informed and coordinated action on the part of decision-makers in these countries to promote gender equality and remove obstacles to the full participation of women at political, economic and social level.
The Forum is permanently co-chaired by Sierra Leone (Dr Abie Kamara) and by Finland (Ambassador Satu Suikkari-Kleven) and by other g7+ member states on a rotating basis.
The Forums are held every six months, online and broadcast via Facebook and Youtube from the g7+ European Delegation. The Forums are supported by Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua I.P.
